Axiom 2020
This cellar-worthy blend of Bordeaux red varietals is made in optimal vintages, where long and steady ripening results in developed tannins and complex flavours. We like to highlight the best of growing seasons like this one, and showcase south Okanagan red styles with finesse and charm. The Merlot and Cabernet Franc components were grown on our estate vineyard, and the Cabernet Sauvignon is from an Oliver grower.

Wine Profile
Tasting Notes
Deep, rich burgundy character with very nice clarity. The Nose is intense with fragrant, jammy red berry fruit, very ripe first impression. Licorice/aniseeed, bramble fruits, cherry jam, vanilla pod, dark chocolate feature as well. The wine is currently showing a lot of primary fruit characters/primary oak, so longer aging will develop more tertiary aromas and balanced palate weight. The Cab components are relatively minor compared to the Merlot, but their characters emerge more on the palate/finish with some peppery qualities alongside the bramble fruit.
We recommend 1-2 hours decanting before enjoying, or keeping for 4-7 years in your cellar.
Production Notes
Slightly departing from the blend we used in the first three years of this wine's production (2014, 2015 and 2016), the 2020 Axiom is primarily Merlot (67%), sourced from our Silica and Alluvia barrel batches. Additionally, 24% of the blend is whole-cluster Cabernet Franc that was fermented in an upright puncheon, with minimal punching down, promoting vibrant purple colour and fresh fruit, with some herbaceous qualities from the inclusion of the stems with the berries in the ferment, and the final 9% is Cabernet Sauvignon.
Food Pairing Notes
Pair with: Classic Beef Wellington or hearty Dijon beef stew.
